Last night, I was invited to visit The Foundry on Melrose and to taste their amazing cuisine. I was asked to bring a guest and I immediately thought of my colleague, pastry chef, Joeleen of A Sweet Design.
From the moment we arrived, we were overly impressed. The hostess greeted us with a smile and said, A Stunning Affair, party of 2? She took us to a quaint outdoor patio and sat us at a table for two, near a fireplace. We were then immediately greeted by a waiter who discussed the ever changing and seasonal menu.
The menu featured award winning grilled cheese sandwiches, Parmesan crusted Jidori chicken and huge Scallops served over fresh garbanzos. Each dish we tried was more complex than the next. With so many components you’d think it would be overwhelming, but instead it was fantastic. The gnocchis were perfectly garnished with a slice of parmesan and an asparagus tip. And the reduction sauce was plate licking good!!! During our meal, the chef and owner of The Foundry, Eric Greenspan, took time away from the kitchen to come to our table and chat with us for a bit about their amazing menu and events that they have coming up. He also mentioned that their menu is always changing and possibilities are endless.
Everything was simply amazing and then came the magnificent dessert, strawberry shortcake. I had no idea strawberry shortcake could taste like that?!?! It was a taste sensation! Two sugar coated biscuits, with cream, topped off with sautéed strawberries and lavender ice-cream. This dessert impressed my pastry chef guest so much that she talked about it all the way home. It really was AHHMAZING!
The Foundry is an ideal spot for weddings and events under 80 guests and a perfect spot for rehearsal dinners!
